The River Dee in Chester is an inspiration to photographers all over the city.

In the snow, in the sun, at night, early in the morning, packed with people or with just one lone boat, entrants to our photographic competition have captured it at its  best.

Our second gallery of beautiful photographs represents just a fraction of those that we have received for the competition, run in association with ChesterBoat.

Conor O’Gorman emailed a selection of photos of  family outings to the River Dee in the last few years.

He said: “Boat builder and fisherman Tony allowed the boys to play on the boat he was building on the river last summer.

“Tony still fishes for eels on the river and comes from a long line of Cestrians that made their living on the  river.

“The river has given us countless hours of fun and learning. I hope some family photos might feature in  the competition to help inspire others to spend more time outdoors at the river.”

The winner of the competition, judged by a panel  including Chronicle photographer Ian Cooper, will walk away with a £200 voucher from Camera Solutions  on Frodsham Street.

Three runners up will each receive a trip for two on ChesterBoat’s popular fish and chip evening cruises, complete with a complimentary bottle of wine.

Any images selected for the company’s website will  be rewarded with either a half-hour or two-hour cruise  along the river for two people.

To enter the competition email your photographs to newsroom@cheshirenews.co.uk or post copies of originals to Petra Mann, The Chronicle, Maple House, Sealand Road, Chester CH1 4RN.

The competition closes on April 11.
