COMMUNITY chiefs have pledged to continue their fight against anti-social behaviour after a thug was jailed for 12 months and given an Anti-Social Behaviour Order.

Last week we reported how Marc Terence Ashbrook, 20, of Fir Road, Cuddington, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to affray. Chester Crown Court heard he attacked two

16-year-old boys with a wooden plank in a takeaway in Sandiway on March 28. The ASBO will come into effect when he is released from jail.

Ken Nixon, chairman of Cuddington Parish Council, said: 'Residents in the village are entitled to walk around the village without any worries or any trouble. The councillors are continuing to support the police and anybody else to make sure order is maintained.'

Mr Nixon said he is still hesitant as to whether ASBOs are successful. He said: 'I don't think they have been around long enough to make a judgement on their success. If they become too common then people will disregard them and that will cause problems; only time will tell.'

Ashbrook's ASBO will last three years, with conditions that he does not commit anti-social behaviour or incite others to use foul, abusive or threatening language.

Inspector Graeme Birmingham, head of Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said Ashbrook was a violent individual and serious acts of violence will not be tolerated.
