THE whole community is invited to get involved with an idea that will bring together almost a million people across the UK as they share lunch with their neighbours.

The Hoole version of The Big Lunch will take place on Sunday, June 5 at Alexandra Park from 12.30-2.30pm for a picnic in the park with fun and games for all.

Organiser of the Hoole event Hazel Gilbert said: “The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project to encourage people to have lunch with their neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. A record number of people are expected to take part this year.

“Although a Big Lunch can be a few neighbours getting together in the garden, we’ve decided to hold our Hoole event at Alexandra Park so that the whole community can come along.

“The Big Lunch was set up to stoke community spirit, what they like to call ‘human-warming’ and to help the third of people who live alone feel happier, closer and friendlier.”
