Cheshire can enter 2014 with pride after a range of New Year honours were handed out to the county’s local heroes.
Notable achievements revealed on New Year’s Eve included:
Former director of education at Cheshire County Council David Cracknell receives an OBE for services to education.
Charity champion Joe Gildea is awarded a British Empire Medal on the day his pub The Ship Victory closes its doors for good.
Chronicle correspondent and Christleton stalwart Margaret Croston also receives a British Empire Medal for services to the community.
And David Dalton of Willaston is knighted for services to the NHS. He is currently chief executive of Salford Royal Hospital.
Former West Cheshire College principal Sara Mogel has been made an OBE for services to vocational education in the New Year’s Honours list.
President of Helsby Golf Club Alan Lee has been honoured with an MBE for his work in helping to raise thousands of pounds for children with special needs.
