THE new Cheshire West and Chester Council hits town for a 90 minute "come and meet us" session tonight (Thursday January 29).

Top councillors and directors from the council will be meeting residents, businesses, voluntary groups and organisations at the Guild Hall at 7pm.

The council's top team will be on hand to outline its key priorities with council leader Cllr Mike Jones (Con, Broxton) and chief executive Steve Robinson introducing the new council's portfolio holders and directors.

They will be spearheading the authority's drive to become one of the country's best performing councils when it takes over the running of local services in Cheshire West from April.

People will be able to ask questions of key decision makers and provide feedback about what they hear.

"Working closely with our communities is key to Cheshire West and Chester's success," said Cllr Jones.

The chief executive added:"People who attend will learn more about Cheshire West and Chester's plans and approach, as well as being able to get involved in discussion groups being led by directors and portfolio holders.

"It's a great opportunity to put faces to names and continue the process of building strong links with our communities."

An introduction will cover topics such as the new council's priorities, arrangements for area working and major service issues.

There will also be a series of group discussions on important aspects of the council's work.

The event rounds off a series of similar meetings held in Ellesmere Port and Neston and Vale Royal.
