A COFFEE outlet has closed after the chain got into financial difficulties.
A notice on the locked door of Coffee Republic in Town Hall Square says the parent companies involved “are in administration and this outlet has been closed with immediate effect”.
Reports suggest Coffee Republic is the latest victim of the economic downturn.
Twenty of its 187 UK outlets are directly-owned and affected by the administration. The rest are franchises or concessions in cinemas or hotels.
Administrators at KPMG say Coffee Republic is a strong brand and they hope to sell on the profitable parts of the business.
