A DONKEY has become the centre of attention at a Chester adventure playground.

Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) residents approved the funding of Coco the donkey, the latest addition at the playground, near Shelley Road, Blacon.

Residents from CDHT’s Blacon North Neighbourhood Panel agreed to help fund the purchase of the donkey from CDHT’s Community Intervention Budget.

Coco, aged seven, is settling in well with the playground’s other donkey Domino, who is mourning the loss of his companion Pedro, who passed away recently.

Tracey Ewbank, from CDHT Residents’ Board, said: “I think that Coco being here is fantastic. Donkeys need to live in pairs and when Pedro died Domino needed a new partner.

“I would encourage residents from across Cheshire West to make the most of this superb facility, which teaches people to look after animals.”

Peter Rogerson, assistant play leader at Cheshire West & Chester council, added: “The Blacon Adventure Playground Centre is being really well used with residents coming from outside the area, such as from Ellesmere Port to use the facility, with 500 to 600 people coming a day over the summer.”
