The Coca Cola truck’s brief stint in Chester ‘exceeded all expectations’ of CH1Chester BID, who organised its visit.

Around 25,000 people turned out to catch a glimpse of the famous red truck last Thursday and it was described as a ‘huge coup’ for Chester and CH1ChesterBID.

Rita Waters, chief executive of BID, said: “We always knew the appeal of the Coca-Cola truck would draw crowds into the city centre and, according to the figures, there were around 25,000 people, which exceeded all of our expectations.

“The atmosphere was fantastic from start to finish and it was clear that people of all ages enjoyed having the truck here in the city.

“Combine this event with the 12 Days of Christmas-themed parade and Christmas lights switch on, Santa’s Post Office and the unique community events Chester is famous for and it’s been a wonderful start to the festive season in the city centre,” she added.

However, the truck’s presence in Chester divided opinion with many concerned about the ‘negative’ health message connected with promoting a fizzy drink.
