A DEDICATED coach has been nominated to carry the Olympic flame through Chester.

Hamish Collin, a retired university lecturer, is a coach at Queen's Park High School rowing club and he was nominated by Amy McCartney, whose son Chris trains at the Handbridge school’s club.

She said: “Hamish started to volunteer when his children were at the school and has stayed with it ever since.

“I am nominating him to say thank you for all the long hours and weekends that he gives up to enable the students to experience rowing and compete nationally.

“Their experiences I know are treasured.”

Hamish and the team of coaches are voluntary and between them contribute about 50 hours a week.

Amy added: “Queen’s Park is one of only three state schools in the country to offer rowing and the contribution of the coaches makes the club very successful locally and nationally.”
