A DONATION of £700 from The Co-operative’s community fund has allowed a pre-school to purchase new art and craft equipment.

Broughton Pre-school Playgroup has been running for more than 30 years and caters for children from six months old up until school age. It teaches basic skills and promotes social interaction.

Christie Jenkins, grants organiser for the Broughton Pre-school Playgroup, said: “We’ve been keen to introduce collaborative craft activities for some time as the benefit to children is huge.

“We’re extremely grateful to The Co-operative for this grant that has allowed us to buy four new easels and other craft equipment that enables children to work together, interact with others and feel proud of their art work.”

Mike Ash-Edwards, secretary for The Co-operative in Wales, said: “The community fund can make a real and lasting contribution to local communities and supporting Broughton Pre-school Playgroup is certainly a worthy cause.

“Many community groups share the same values as The Co-operative and could benefit from an award and we would certainly welcome their applications.”

The community fund offers grants of between £100 and £2,000.
