CLWYD Theatr Cymru in Mold has released its new autumn programme.

Kate Wasserberg, Clwyd Theatr Cymru’s director of new plays, opens the season with a new production of Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel.

The action is set in rural Donegal, Ireland in 1936 during Lughnasa, an ancient ritual which marks the start of harvest.

The play will run from September 30 to October 23.

Terry Hands will direct Blackthorn, a new play by Welsh playwright Gary Owen, which will run from October 28 to November 20.

Blackthorn is a dark comedy about the clash between an English family, who buy a farmhouse in Wales and a Welsh farmer.

This year’s Christmas pantomime is Aladdin – The Wok ‘n’ Roll Panto, written and directed by Peter Rowe which will run from November 26 to January 29.

Tim Baker, the theatre’s associate director, will also adapt and direct A Child’s Christmas In Wales, by Dylan Thomas, which will run from December 9 to January 8.

The first touring production this season is Murdered To Death, from August 31 to September 4.
