A KEEN young rower has delighted members of her school's rowing club by donating a cheque for £500.
Emily Stuttard, 12, from Queen's Park High School, won the prize money in a story writing competition run by Dee 106.3 and The Mall Grosvenor.
Part of Emily's prize, for her fantasy tale of Myrtle the Mouse, was £500 to support her school or sports club.
She chose her school's rowing club, of which she is an active member. She joined the club in July last year and has already taken part in a regatta and two head of the river races.
The club is run by parents who volunteer their time and skills and members have been busy raising funds to replace engines stolen from the club last year.
Club chairman Hamish Collin said: 'We are delighted that Emily has chosen to donate her prize to Queen's Park High School Rowing Club. This will help to fund new equipment.'
