IRRESPONSIBLE dog owners are risking on-the-spot fines of up to £75 for failing to clean up after their pets.
Depending on where the offence occurs, owners could be fined £75 under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 or £50 under the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996.
Chester City Council dog warden Dave Wood said: “Generally, people clean up after their dogs but there are a number of areas where fouling continues to be a problem.
“We have more than 250 bins and give out free poop scoop bags so there is no excuse not to clean up after your pet.”
Despite these measures, Dave has named the three areas where dog fouling continues to be a problem:
Marina Drive, Upton
Oakfield Drive, Upton
Oldfield Crescent, Lache.
Dog bags are available from various outlets across the district. For further details, call 01244 402513.
