RESTRICTIONS are being introduced at Cheshire's 16 Household Waste Recycling Centres to combat increasing illegal trade waste deposits.

The move, which will affect commercial vehicles and large trailers, comes as part of measures to improve service at the centres and help make the recycling option more attractive to Cheshire residents.

House holders affected by the vehicle restrictions will be issued with free permits for the disposal of their own household waste.

Executive Member for Waste Councillor Andrew Needham said: 'Existing measures at our centres are having limited impact on preventing trade waste.

'The new scheme will help to alleviate increased waste and increased cost to the taxpayer while also reducing queuing times for householders and helping Cheshire to meet the Government's recycling targets.

Householders with cars, multi-purpose vehicles and non-commercial 4X4s will not be affected by the permit scheme.

Permits can be applied for online at www.cheshire.gov.uk/waste/home.htm or by calling 0845 002 0134. Applications received before 3pm will be posted the same day.

Permits will not be issued at Household Waste Recycling Centres or any County Council or District Council building.
