A CHESTER band is bringing a refreshing sound to the music scene ahead of their EP launch on November 27.

Tim and Sam’s Tim and the Sam band with Tim and Sam has recently played the Latitude Festival, toured the UK and had airplay on Radio 1.

The band plays an instrumental blend of acoustic/experimental/folk music. Between them they play a long list of instruments, ranging from the common to the more unusual, such as a ukulele and marimba.

They have four core members, with others who join them on stage sometimes, so there can be up to ten of them performing at once.

Formed in Chester, with band members from across Cheshire and North Wales, the band holds regular gigs in the area.

With airplay on Radio 1 by Huw Stephens and Colin Murray and on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 music and Radio 2 shows, the group is going from strength to strength.

The band played on the BBC Introducing Stage at the Latitude Festival this summer.

“Latitude was absolutely amazing,” said band member Becca Palin. “It was really good experience, it was the biggest crowd we’ve played to and it went very well.

“The BBC Introducing Stage was organised by Huw Stephens; he’s like the new John Peel, promoting new bands.”

The band have also had one of their songs used as a soundtrack for a Co-op advert.

“Someone approached us and said our music was just what they were looking for to use for the advert,” said Becca.

“It’s an ethical policy advert, so it’s quite nice and fitting as we’re all Fairtrade fans.”
