MORE than 100 primary school children swapped the classroom for an afternoon of thrills and excitement when they joined pupils at Rudheath High School to join in a dazzling performance by Fred's Flying Circus.
Since 1988 Fred's Flying Circus has performed at festivals, towns and villages throughout the UK before embarking on a 10-year tour of Europe.
The company is currently appearing in various Cheshire venues as part of the Rural Touring Network and were invited to perform their show at the specialist Rudheath performing arts high school to teach children performance skills.
Rosemary Loftus, head of performing arts at the school, said: 'It was a unique opportunity for pupils of all ages to work with professional circus performers.
'The circus skills can be transferred to various learning situations as part of the more traditional curriculum but the pupils will learn them in a way which would not be possible in a classroom situation.'
