It’s throwback Tuesday in the Chester Chronicle office as staff revisit the favourite books of their teenage years to help celebrate World Book Day on Thursday.

It’s easy to forget the stories that first ignited your love of reading but in the same week as millions of children dress up as their favourite storybook character, we have complied a list of the top ten books that we enjoyed reading as young adults.

Here they are - in no particular order

1. The Outsiders by S.E Hinton

2. The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole by Sue Townsend

3. The Sweet Valley High series by Francine Pascal

4. Forever by Judy Bloom

5. Stig of the Dump by Clive King

6. The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner

7. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

8. Danny Champion of the World by Roald Dahl

9. The Nancy Drew series by Carolyn Keene

10. Rebecca’s World by Terry Nation
