THE community of Saltney and Saltney Ferry are holding their inaugural Christmas Parade on Tuesday.

It takes place at the Saltney Social Club, High Street, Saltney, between 4.30-6.30pm.

The main road through Saltney will be closed from 4– 4.30pm for the main parade, with Santa leaving from the Anchor pub and the other half leaving from the Saltney Community Centre on Sandy Lane.

The Mayor, Councillor Ann Lloyd will be giving out gifts to children who participate in the event, as well as all four local schools singing two carols each with a final joint rendition of the Sussex Carol.

There will be stalls with gifts, crafts and hot food, as well as mulled wine and mince pies.

Local community groups including the Police and Fire Brigade will be in attendance.

There will also be the chance to buy raffle tickets for the Mayor’s Christmas Raffle with a variety of prizes on offer.

In the event of bad weather, the event will be moved inside the social club.

Cllr Lloyd said: “I am extremely pleased that the whole community is coming together for this event and hope this will be the first of many in the coming years.

“I would just like to thank all those who supported this Christmas celebration and also our sponsors, the Saltney Social Club, Airbus, Larfarge and Morgan Ashurst.”
