TWINS Jake and Sam Caleb had a double reason for celebrating after sharing ten A grades between them.

The Christleton High School students, aged 18, each gained five grade As.

Jake is to study a foundation degree in art at Chelsea School of Art while Sam has gained a well-deserved place to read English language and literature at Oxford University.

Sam was recognised nationally for his performance in English literature, achieving one of the top five marks nationally out of more than eight thousand candidates.

Other students going to Oxbridge are Joshua Oldfield, a former head boy, who will study law at Oxford University after gaining four A grades and Andrew Stothart who gained five A grades and will be reading maths at Cambridge University.

The school is delighted with the general standard of this year’s A level results which “reflect the hard work and dedication of both students and teachers”.

More than a quarter of the grades achieved by the 120-plus students were at the highest A grade. Twelve students achieved four or more A grades and five students gained five A grades.

Among the students achieving five grade As are Laura McKay who will read genetics at Leeds and Owen Roach who will study biology at Bristol.

Other students who achieved four grade As are Katharine Dowling who will study at Bristol, Tom Hamilton who is working full time with a firm of Chartered Accountants and begins his AAT qualification in September, George Morgan studying mechanical engineering at Sheffield, Abigail Stewart taking chemistry at Durham, Nicole Tallant who is taking a gap year and Emma Williams who is reading physics at Warwick.

Chair of governors Sue Leake and headteacher Tony Lamberton said that they were both extremely pleased with the results.

They congratulated the students on their successes and wished them well in their future careers.
