PARLIAMENTARY candidate Stephen Mosley has promised Christleton High School students that he will ‘kick down doors’ at Westminster to achieve his aims if he becomes Chester’s MP.
Mosley, the Conservative candidate, arrived late at the Question Time-style session with Labour candidate Christine Russell and Lib Dem candidate Elizabeth Jewkes.
Organised as part of the upper sixth PSHCE programme, each candidate was given a short time to outline their party’s platform and then took part in a debate chaired by head boy Jeremy Stothart.
Head of Year 13 Hilary Laidler said: “I had billed him as a budding Dimbleby but he proved to be more of a Paxman.”
Questions included university tuition fees, the legal voting age and plans for the people of Chester.
Mrs Laidler added: “It was a very lively session which the candidates said they enjoyed but I must admit that the students didn’t really get any answers to their questions.”
A week earlier A-level government and politics and law students travelled to London to visit the Houses of Parliament, No 10 Downing St and meet Ms Russell.
