Grandparents were invited to Abbey Gate school to enjoy the Chinese New Year celebrations.

2016 is the year of the monkey and according to Chinese zodiac, the monkey is smart, lively and quick-witted.

Grandparents and pupils participated in a Chinese New Year workshop making hats, dragons and fans and trying authentic Chinese food.

Headteacher Sally Ann Rhodes-Leader said “It is wonderful to have such a close relationship with our children’s grandparents and to see the generations enjoying working and spending time together.”

All the crafts which were made on the day were then used to decorate the school.

The lucky colours for this year are blue, gold and white which are coincidentally the Hoole school’s colours.
