CHILDREN’S play equipment plans have been given permission in a Cheshire village.

The application was made by Tilston Playing Field Association on land at Church Road, Tilston.

The association told planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council it was seeking approval for eight pieces of play equipment in the field.

The equipment would include a goal end adjacent to the play area and six other pieces of play kit.

The application was supported by Tilston Parish Council but Sport England objected as part of the playing field would be lost.

Similar views were expressed by landscape officers who suggested the location of the equipment should be ‘better thought out’ so it would not obstruct the football pitch.

Sport England suggested an alternative location closer to the play area as this would not affect a playing pitch.

The plans were revised on this basis, according to a report.

Planning officers argued the equipment will meet the essential recreational and community needs of local people.

The revised application was recommended for approval and the council agreed that permission could be granted.
