A CHILDREN’S art and craft studio was proposed in a vacant shop.

The application was made at 21 Queens Road, Vicars Cross by Miss Wynne Roberts.

Miss Roberts told borough planners the studio, for primary school age children, would be open from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

The premises are in a small parade and have residential above, according to a report. Of the four shops in the parade, two were vacant, one was a newsagents and convenience store and one a hairdressers.

No representations were made by Great Boughton Parish Council or by neighbours who were consulted.

There were no comments from Great Boughton borough councillors Keith Board and Pamela Hall (Con) who were notified.

Environmental protection officers had no objection subject to an hours condition and there were no objections from the highways engineer.

The premises, previously occupied by a hair and beauty salon, had been vacant since June 2011, planners explained.

Three of the four premises in the parade would remain retail.

The application was recommended for approval and the council agreed the change of use could have permission.
