CHILDREN took a trip around the world without leaving their classroom.

Helsby Hillside Primary School held a global focus week recently, looking at various cultures and how they differ to our own.

Headteacher Rob Seabrook said: “We had a visit from African drumming band Hohodza and also from a Ghanaian artist Miso-shi who did some artwork with the children and told us some African tales.

“Staff explored things like fair trade with the children and the Nigerian grandmother of one pupil brought in different types of fruit for them to taste.

“We also dressed up in traditional African costume, but showed the children that in modern Africa people wear trousers and shirts just like us.”
