CHILDREN from Cheshire who entered a tulip growing competition at a garden centre in the county last September are being invited to take their photo diaries back for judging next month.

Tarporley Garden Centre on Forest Road in Cotebrook gave away 60 tulip bulbs to 20 children and invited them to create a photo diary showing how they planted and cared for them until they flowered.

Manager, Neil MacWilliam said: “As part of our Spring Flowering Bulbs Week we gave three bulbs to each of the first 20 children who came in and asked for them during the week. The youngsters could choose from Pinocchio or Red Riding Hood bulbs.

“Each child, aged between five and 11 years old, was also given a competition entry form containing the rules and were asked to create a photo diary.

“We are inviting youngsters to bring their diaries back to the garden centre for judging between Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 9.”

The winning child, who has created the most interesting photo diary, will be awarded a growbag and a tomato, pepper and cucumber plant so they can have a go at growing their own vegetables.
