PUPILS of Blacon High School are getting into the festive spirit early by filling shoeboxes with gifts for Operation Christmas Child.

Last year, the school collected 80 shoeboxes to send to disadvantaged children around the world.

This year the target is to fill and send 100 boxes, which pupils fill with items such as toys, educational supplies, toothbrushes, gloves, hats and sweets.

Teacher Maggie Eldridge said: “The pupils are magnificent in wanting to help others have a happy Christmas. The Christmas Box Appeal enables every pupil to contribute by bringing an item for a box or indeed making a whole box.

“It shows the caring nature of the pupils at Blacon High School. I would also like to thank families of the pupils for supporting them.”

If anyone would like to contribute items or complete shoeboxes, they can be dropped off at Blacon High by Wednesday, November 5.
