CHILDREN in Alvanley paid tribute to hundreds of heroes who died in battle during a special parade for Remembrance Day.

Pupils at Alvanley Primary School stood in respect as they observed a two minutes silence and placed wreathes woven with poppies at the war memorial at St John’s Church.

Reception children and pupils from Year One spent hours making the wreath which was taken to the church by members of the school council.

All of the school observed the two minutes silence and took part in the service which included a parade and several readings in honour of soldiers past and present who have died in conflict.
