A 40-YEAR-old man has been taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire in a hotel.

The fire was discovered inŠa kitchenŠin the staff quarters of the Premier Inn, Chester Road, Childer Thornton at 1.30am.

Anthony McCarthy, green watch crew manager with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Although the fire had been extinguished prior to our arrival, the kitchen was quite heavily smoke-logged and a male in his 40sŠhad to beŠtaken to the Countess of Chester hospital by ambulance.

"There was significant damage to the kitchen area with some fire damage to the wall, caused by leaving food unattended on the cooker. You should never leave cooking unattended."
