CHILDREN welcomed plucky friends to their school as the mayor opened a new chicken coop in Frodsham.

Children at Frodsham CE Primary School welcomed new hens to their newly built ‘Eglu’ as mayor Andrew Dawson unveiled the new coop.

The fox proof and cosy ‘Eglu’ was built following a £500 grant from the town council during an awards evening earlier this year.

Headteacher Gail Fullbrook said the children were delighted with the hens, saying: “They’re going to take it in turns to look after them and the eggs will be used for cooking and given to parents as a thank you for helping us to look after them.”
