Chester will have its very own Tuk Tuk taxi pootling around city streets from Monday (April 11).

Deva Tuk Tuk's private hire vehicle license will finally come into force, after its vision received the backing of Cheshire West and Chester Council in a close 7-6 vote when it went before the licensing committee in January.

The Saughall-based company has been offering its automatic rickshaw for hire as chauffeur-driven wedding transport since 2014, but from Monday it will be available for pre-booked tours and rides.

Mel Ashley, of Deva Tuk Tuks

A thrilled Mel Ashley, of Deva Tuk Tuk, told the Chronicle: "Monday, April 11, is the day that Deva Tuk Tuk is officially launched.

"After a long process we are fully licenced to offer Cestrians and visitors fun, quirky transport around the city in our Bajaj Tuk Tuk, bringing smiles and fun to everyone who rides with us or spots us on the street.

"We can offer sightseeing tours in and around our city taking in fab places like the amphitheater, Roodee, all the gates or bespoke to meet the needs of our customers.

"We can pick you up and drop you off at any location in the city like the zoo, racecourse or any of the many restaurants."

Trips should be booked 24 hours in advance.
