AFTER three years in Watergate Street, Chester, Politic Private Members Bar & Restaurant is undergoing a refurbishment and name change under the direction of its new owners, Newcastle based Northern Leisure.
The new operation will be known as North Members Bar and Politic Restaurant and will be unveiled at a VIP party on Friday (August 8).
The bar has Chester’s only 24 hour licence and has a ‘doesn’t close until the last member leaves policy’.
The restaurant will open from noon-3pm for lunches and 7-10.30pm for dinner and Sunday dinner sessions will resume shortly.
New restaurant manager Jamie Murray, who has previous experience at Michelin star rated venues, will be steering the new menu which he describes as “modern British with a French twist.”
Although North will remain a members bar, it is going to be much more accessible and reasonably priced to become a member. In most cases the membership is effectively free since the fee is refunded as a credit on the membership card to spend in the venue.
Friday’s launch is a “Preview Soiree” from 5-11pm with an after party until 4am.
North Members Bar officially opens on Saturday evening.
