A CHESTER pub has been named as the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) pub of the year.

The Pied Bull, Northgate Street, was handed the award by Brian Vardy, chairman of Chester and South Clwyd branch.

He said: “After introducing a series of guest ales, the Pied Bull has gone on to install its own microbrewery.

“It is, in real ale terms, a recent addition, but one that is most welcome and a pub that has done extremely well.”

General manager of the Pied Bull, Luke Smith, said: “It’s such an honour and shows that our commitment to brewing and real ale is appreciated.”
