CHESTER’S Philip Lynn proved he could show his students a thing or two after completing the UK Ironman challenge.

The PE teacher finished the endurance race in an impressive 13 hours and 47 minutes – an amazing achievement considering Philip only started racing triathlons this time last year.

The race consisted of a 2.4-mile swim in open water, a 112-mile bike ride and a marathon to finish.

Philip, who lives in Chester and works as a PE teacher at Knutsford High School, is very proud of his achievement and, after months of training, is pleased with his finish time.

As part of the challenge, Philip has been asking friends and family to share a pint with him but this time not of beer, but blood – to raise awareness of the National Blood Service.

He said: “I thought it would be hard to raise money during this recession so I thought we could collect blood instead.”
