Know where Fordsham Street is in Chester?

No? Neither do we, because it doesn't exist.

But a roadworks sign newly erected at Gorse Stacks - where the new bus interchange is under construction - to helpfully point motorists the right way would have you believe otherwise.

It would seem the sign-writer has, not so helpfully, got a bit confused with the order of the letters and come up with Fordsham Street as opposed to the well-known and, crucially, correct Frodsham Street.

But it's not the first time sign spellings have gone wrong.

Remember when Cheshire West and Chester Council contractors got similarly muddled when painting a rather important message on Blacon Point Road outside Highfield Primary School? Workmen spelled the 'clear' in 'School - keep clear' as 'claer' in yellow paint.

And the misfortune of Water Tower Street's new sign, which mistakenly said Water Tower Road instead?

Take a look at our gallery below for more spelling gaffe gold.
