FIRE crews were called to tackle a small blaze in a city centre pub on Friday morning (April 16).

The incident, in the Coach and Horses pub in Northgate Street, was reported to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service at about 6.55am and was caused by an industrial chip pan.

Two fire crews and a hudraulic platform from Chester, one appliance from Ellesmere Port and a high volume pump from Congleton attended the scene.

The eight people inside the building were evacuated.

Crews put out the blaze with a fire blanket and a CO2 extinguisher.
