A SALTNEY vet scooped the top prize in the Oscars of the veterinary world.
Ben Jones won the prestigious ‘Vet of the Year 2009’ title in the Petplan Veterinary Awards.
With his surgery named after himself in High Street, he is well-known for his community work and continuously goes above and beyond the call of duty to help owners and their pets.
Ben has set up a home visit scheme for his elderly clients and visited a nursing home when an owner was there as a day patient with their pet.
The Petplan Veterinary Awards, run by the pet insurance company and held in Birmingham, are now in their 10th year.
They recognise and applaud staff and practices throughout the country that have delivered an exceptional level of care to the nation’s pets. Nearly 2300 Brits voted in them.
The independent panel of judges said: “We were bowled over by Ben’s dedication to animal welfare. Throughout the gruelling judging process, we were presented with numerous examples of Ben’s understanding and compassion. While being extremely knowledgeable, Ben can reassuringly explain the most complicated procedures to clients.”
