STUDENTS at Abbey Gate College are getting into character for a challenging school production.

The youngsters, from Year 8 to 13, will present Arthur Miller’s The Crucible at the school’s Edward Mitchell Theatre from December 6-8.

An ensemble of 35 actors will tackle Miller’s well-known play about the Salem witch trials of late 17th century America.

Directed by Laura McMahon and Charlotte Andrews, the play highlights the idea of a society searching for something, or someone, to blame and the religious or political discrimination that follows.

Mrs McMahon said: “Miller teaches us the dangers of fundamentalist dogma and shares his own sense of desperation and outrage about the treatment of the wronged.”
