HUNDREDS of Chester helpers have been showing that aiding the community is a piece of Cake.

The Chesterfest Cake Week is taking place this week, with 23 church congregations from around the Chester area working together with a range of partner organisations to benefit the city.

Cake, or Community Acts of Kindness Experience, is a week-long youth and community programme run with the support of groups such as Link Up, the Light Project and Chester Christian Schools Work.

Local church leader and chairman of Chesterfest, the Rev Andy Glover, said: “The main purpose of the Cake Week is to bring the church in Chester and the local communities of the city together, to give young people the opportunity to serve in the community and to provide quality activities for them.”

The week of community kindness activities will conclude with ‘The Event’ at 7.30pm tomorrow in Bishops High School, Great Boughton.

Christian band YFriday will be playing, with support from Cyber X.
