TWO Chester writers have been selected to work with Action Transport Theatre (ATT) on a Shell- sponsored project.

Paul Kelly and Gail Young will work with professional playwright and ATT’s associate writer Kevin Dyer on a project called 10 Tiny plays

Gail’s play Cheshire Cats is playing at The Forum Theatre in Chester this week. Paul’s’ play Good Will was at the venue last year.Š

The duo will join another eight writers, including one from Australia, for the project.

Kevin will guide all 10 writers through the play-writing process to help them create their five-minute flash-fiction play. The 10 plays will be showcased as part of the Shell Chester Literature Festival at the Forum Theatre in October and shared online in a blog

ŠOthers writers can follow Kevin’s advice between drafts and comment on different stages of the writing.

Kevin said: “Plays set in streets, plays set in flats; plays set in cyberspace; plays that are emotional and plays that are fantastical or political; solo shows and big casts. It’s going to be a feast.”

The cast will come from a pool of young performers aged 12-25. Workshops for those interested are on Monday April 18, Saturday May 7 and Friday June 3 from 10am-4pm at Whitby Hall in Ellesmere Port. To book a place contact Jess Egan on 0151 357 2120 or
