A Chester woman has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a mum was knocked down in Huyton last year.

Sarah Elizabeth Webber, 44, of Manor Road, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 14, charged with causing the death of Sally Joanne Gibbons by dangerous driving.

Mrs Gibbons, 36, was hit by a Skoda Fabia car as she tried to cross Liverpool Road in Huyton, on the morning of June 16 last year.

Mrs Gibbons, who volunteered in a children’s centre, suffered multiple injuries in the crash and died in hospital on July 9 last year.

Sarah Elizabeth Webber spoke only to confirm her name and address and entered no plea to the charge.

However, Martin English, representing Webber, said his client intends to deny the charge.

A funeral notice published at the time described Mrs Gibbons as: “Loving wife of Gerard, devoted mummy to Marina, precious and only daughter of Linda and John, dear sister to Tony and John, a much loved niece and friend to all who knew her. Gone from our lives but not from our hearts.”
