POLICE are seeking witnesses to an assault in Chester that has left a man hospitalised with a fractured skull.
Officers were called to a report of a fight in Garden Lane at its junction with Canal Street about 3.30am on Sunday .
The 26-year-old victim, who is a local man, suffered a serious head injury when he fell to the floor during the altercation with another man.
Police say the other individual is a white man in his mid twenties, of medium build, with mousey-coloured, short, brown hair who was dressed in dark clothing.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Countess Of Chester Hospital for a fracture to his skull where his condition is described as stable. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
