CHESTER Ukulele Players are holding an open mic night on Saturday at Chester Music Theatre in Boughton.

Guests will have the opportunity to perform on stage or join in a string and strum session at the end of the evening.

The new not-for-profit club performed their first gig at the Ukulele Festival of Great Britain in Cheltenham during the Diamond Jubilee weekend.

The club meets every Tuesday night at Chester Music Theatre with the aim of bringing together ukulele lovers of all ages and abilities, learning to perform and improving skills.

The players are planning a busking session in Chester in July to raise money for Chronicle-backed charity Miles of Smiles.

The group was started by Sara Goulden and Dave Cunningham, a member of the Liverpool Ukulele Orchestra, in January.

Sara said: “The ukulele is an easy, fun instrument. I only started playing in January and I am pleased to say I performed my first solo for the group recently.”

Tickets for the open mic night are £4 on the door. For more information about visitwww.chesterukul eleplayer.co.uk.
