TWO teenagers from the Chester area are preparing to head off to Vietnam on a charity mission.

Dona Kumar and Felicity Elsegood, both 18, will be volunteering with the global organisation Projects Abroad.

The duo, both King’s School sixth formers, will work in Hanoi as part of a project called Care and Community for two weeks.

Dona, of Holly Close, Mickle Trafford, said: “I am definitely looking forward to the trip, I’ve been wanting to do something similar for a long time and this summer before university seems like the perfect opportunity.

“The plan while we’re there is to simply be helping out in general in the Vietnamese community with whatever we can, especially with the children.

“We will probably be doing things like assisting in lessons, organising and playing games and we may spend time on a painting and decorating project for the community, which should be good fun!

“I hope to make a difference to them in some way, although two weeks is a short time to do so. I have heard wonderful things about Vietnam and I’m looking forward to immersing myself in this new culture very much.”

Felicity, of Bowesgate Road, Bunbury, added: “I am really excited about our upcoming trip to Vietnam.

“We are involved in Care and Community and despite the short amount of time we will be there, I would love to help in some way.”

Peter Slowe, director of Projects Abroad, said: “We are really pleased Dona and Felicity are doing this.

“Hanoi are looking forward very much to meeting them – and they definitely want them to bring some pictures of Cheshire with them.”
