A TEENAGER who attacked two men with a bottle, leaving one of them so badly cut he needed more than 20 stitches, has been jailed for 18 months.

Alex James Richardson, of Whitchurch Road, Chester, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to one count of causing grievous bodily harm and one count of causing actual bodily harm.

Richardson, 19, turned up uninvited to a party in The Groves in Chester on Saturday, May 30, 2009. While at the party, he was argued with his girlfriend and was told to leave.

As he was leaving, one of the guests tried to take a glass bottle from Richardson. Richardson then used the bottle as a weapon, smashing it over his victim’s head, causing cuts to his face and nose.

He then used a bottle to hit a second victim, causing him serious facial injuries. The second victim was taken to hospital and had to have stitches to two cuts on his face and neck.

On Friday, May 14 at Chester Crown Court, Richardson was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders’ institution for the attack.

DC Keith Campbell of Chester CID said: “This was a particularly nasty attack using a glass bottle as a weapon. Violence like this will not be tolerated in Chester and we will continue to use all our resources to tackle any incidents of this nature reported to us.”
