A Chester teacher has been giving the BBC her expert opinion on women’s football.

Deputy head of sixth form at the Bishops’ Blue Coat CE High School and former Wales international Cheryl Foster was chosen to be the pundit at the Wales v Norway match in Newport on Tuesday, June 7.

Her former team were hoping to win in order to maintain their push to qualify for the 2017 European Championships in the Netherlands.

BBC Two Wales broadcast the match live in the hope of getting the country behind the girls and to support them on their possible path to success.

Sadly for Cheryl, a FIFA women’s referee, Wales lost the game 2-0, missing out on their chance to progress from Group 8.

She was able to use her previous experience as a player to sympathise with the players and manager and former teammate, Jayne Ludlow.

Cheryl said: “It was an amazing experience to work with the BBC and talk live in front of the cameras, I really enjoyed the opportunity and talking

about the game I have played, refereed and continue to love.”
