CHESTER student Hannah Jones was crowned Rotary Club Young Citizen at a ceremony in Bournemouth on Saturday.

The former Christleton High School student, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2008, was presented with her award by the BBC news presenter Ellie Crisell.

Comedian Russell Howard also chose to feature Hannah’s story on his BBC programme Russell Howard’s Good News last week.

Hannah, 18, was nominated for the award by the club’s Torquay branch after hearing a moving speech by Luke Tillen. She shared her award with fellow cancer sufferer Alice Pyne, of Cumbria.

Tillen runs the charity Torbay Holiday Helpers Network, which offers free holidays to families who have seriously ill or bereaved children, and Hannah has donated her share of the prize to his charity.
