CHESTER’S LK Bennett store in Chester is hoping to help a cancer charity raise a massive £10.7m – by drinking coffee.

The staff of LK Bennett will join thousands of people across the UK when they take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event is being held in store at St Michael’s Row within the Grosvenor Shopping Centre from 9.30am on Tuesday (September 25).

There will be coffee, tea and cakes from Tudor House Delicatessen, all for a suggested donation, alongside a raffle.

Store manager Gay Titchner said: “We really enjoy hosting a coffee morning for Macmillan. It’s a fantastic cause and such a simple way of raising money, as well as having fun.

“It’s brilliant to see other businesses in Chester city centre donate cakes and raffle prizes to the cause, and it’s set to be a successful morning.”

This is the 22nd year of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and Macmillan hopes will be beat the £10m raised last year.

All the money raised will be used to help fund the charity’s vital services from specialist nurses and doctors, to grants and advice for people who have money problems because of their illness.

Macmillan’s fundraising manager for Cheshire, Sarah Page, said: “We are extremely grateful to the LK Bennett staff for holding a coffee morning to raise money for us.

“The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is a really fun event that is really easy to take part in, especially as you can tailor it to suit yourself.”
