More than 150 people put their best feet forward for the Stroke Association’s Step out for Stroke event.

The fundraising walk in Grosvenor Park in Chester, on May 16, raised more than £1,860 for the charity.

The event took place during Action on Stroke Month, when the Stroke Association aims to promote stroke awareness and prevention as well as raise vital funds for the charity.

It was supported by the outgoing Lord Mayor of Chester, Bob Rudd, who officially opened the walk, while Phils Harmonics Rock Choir provided music throughout the day.

Stroke Association regional fundraiser Laura McMullin said: “Step out for Stroke celebrates the achievements of stroke survivors as they walk alongside their friends and family, all while helping to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association.

“Each walk is wheelchair accessible and suitable for any level of walking ability. Participants can walk at their own pace, in their own time. Ultimately, Step out for Stroke celebrates the brave steps in a stroke survivor’s recovery.

“We’re very grateful to everyone who came along to show their support. We’d also like to thank Morrison’s and Sainsbury’s for contributing to the goody bags on the day. The sun was shining, people were full of smiles and a great day was had by all.”
