The magical Twilight Walk is returning to Chester later this year in a bid to raise funds for the Brain Tumour Charity.

The walk, which takes place on October 9, aims to unite patients and families in the battle against brain tumours as well as raising money.

Chester brain tumour survivor Hannah Jones said: “As a long-time supporter of the charity I am delighted that this special event is returning to Chester once again. Every year it is a magical experience and it has always given me huge strength to meet and walk with others who have been affected by the disease.”

The 10K walk will begin at dusk and take in the sights including Chester’s historic city walls.

Among those taking part will be Chester schoolgirls Kate Rugg and Jess Leathwaite, who have been nominated for Young Champion of the Year following their fundraising for the Brain Tumour Charity.

Kate and Jess organised an Easter family fair and raised more than £4,000 after the death of Kate’s grandfather from the disease.

Geraldine Pipping, the charity’s director of fundraising, said: “We are looking forward to returning to Chester again this year for another fantastic event.

“The Twilight Walk helps to show people affected by brain tumours that they are not alone.

“Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and people under 40 in the UK and survival rates have not improved significantly over the last 40 years.

“We receive no government funding and rely 100% on voluntary donations, so it’s only through the efforts of our fantastic fundraisers that we can change these shocking statistics in the future and bring hope to the thousands of people who are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year.”

Chester is one of three locations to host the Twilight Walk this year – others will take place in Warwick on October 2 and Windsor on October 16.
