A GENEROUS legal firm has promised to donate £1,000 to charity for every specialist case they settle in court.

Solicitors at Oliver and Co, based on Watergate Street, Chester, will give a four-figure cheque to MacMillan Cancer Support and British Lung Foundation for each case won involving the dangerous substance asbestos.

The legal firm has agreed to donate funds to the charity of their client’s choice after recovering millions of pounds in damages in recent years.

Partner Craig Howell said: “We work closely with both charities because they provide great support in all aspects of care to our clients who find themselves facing the most difficult time.

“We see how hard they work and want to give something back to these worthy causes.”

Clients who suffer from asbestosis and asbestos-related lung cancer have often developed the illnesses after coming into contact with asbestos in their place of work.

Oliver and Co recently settled a case for a man who was exposed to asbestos while working in industry in the South East more than 30 years ago.”

Solicitor Helena Jones said: “He was helped by his Macmillan nurse when he was first diagnosed with mesothelioma and she referred him to our firm.

“From that day on, we worked closely with her to ensure that he got the full support he needed in terms of treatment, applying for state benefits and the specialist legal advice he required which led to a successful award of compensation to him.

“Both charities are fantastic causes and we want to support them in every way possible”.
